Part-time Forester for Inventory Work

BMEC is hiring an inventory forester for projects in Larimer, Boulder and Jefferson Counties.  Work is flexible and on an as needed basis.  Must have a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Forestry.  Prior inventory experience preferred.  Must be dependable, in good physical condition and capable of working alone in remote settings.  Work will be intermittent in nature through the summer and fall.

This is a great opportunity to gain practice, applied experience in forestry without the commitment of full-time employment.   Work is on contract on a part-time basis. There are no benefits. 

This position allows for excellent work/life balance with the opportunity to set a flexible schedule. 

Compensation ranges from $25-35/hour. Position will remain open until filled.

Wildfire Consultant - Part Time

Blue Mountain Environmental Consulting (BMEC) seeks a part-time/hourly independent contractor residing in the northern Front Range of Colorado (Denver – Fort Collins) specializing in wildfire and forestry management. This position offers flexible hours and  a work load that varies seasonally. Contractors will be able to set their own work schedule and  experience a broad array of environmental work.

BMEC is a tightly knit team dedicated to resource management, wildfire mitigation, forestry management, and education and outreach. We are seeking mid-level professionals capable of conducting site visits, conducting analysis, developing reports, participating in stakeholder engagement and concurrently managing multiple projects. Compensation is commensurate with experience.

Hourly rate via contract of $50-60/hour, commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

      Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in wildland fire management, forestry, natural resources, public administration, watershed or a closely related field.

       Skills/Experience

  • 5 – 10 years of experience in the wildfire field
  • 5 – 10 years of experience with applied wildland fire suppression response
  • Appropriate certifications through NFPA, SAF, USFS, BLM are recommended

Part-time Environmental Project Manager and Consultant

BMEC is seeking a mid-level professional capable of conducting field investigations, developing reports, managing projects and creating new business.   The ideal candidate can manage multiple projects, supplement in-house technical capabilities and have experience in the private sector.  You will collect field data, write reports and develop client relationships. We are especially interested in candidates with advanced writing skills, proposal preparation experience and innovative ideas to expand our business. 

This position allows for excellent work/life balance with the opportunity to set a flexible schedule. The workload varies seasonally, with typically less demand in the winter and spring and more in the summer and fall. Hours during winter and spring will range from 10-15 hours per week. During Summer and Fall, 20-25 hours per week.

You will enjoy great flexibility in the scheduling of your work and have the opportunity to experience a broad array of environmental work. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with a tightly knit team dedicated to resource management, conservation planning, education and outreach. Occasional field work along the Front Range of Colorado (Fort Collins to Denver) may be required.

Compensation ranges from $35-40/hour, commensurate with experience. Position will remain open until filled.
