Fort Collins Nissan-Kia

    • Client:TB Group, TCC Corporation
    • Date: August, 2017 – 2022
    • Project Type:  Ecological characterization study, wetland delineation, pre-construction notification, upland and wetland ecological restoration planning, noxious weed management, raptor monitoring
    • Info:  Fort Collins Nissan-Kia hired Blue Mountain Environmental Consulting (BMEC) to provide a wetland management plan per the City of Fort Collins Land Use Code.

  • The proposed Fort Collins Nissan-Kia auto dealership is located in south Fort Collins along Highway 287 in Larimer County. The proposed commercial development near the City of Fort Collins Redtail Grove Natural Area required several types of environmental compliance.

  • BMEC conducted an ecology study due to the project’s proximity to the city-owned Redtail Grove Natural Area. Blue Mountain collaborated with the developer, landscape architect, project engineer and City of Fort Collins during the five-year project. The report evaluated the effects of development on wildlife, wetlands, vegetation and prominent views.

Proposed site activities would impact wetlands on Fossil Creek, Lang Gulch and an unnamed ditch. This required a study and report of the wetlands prior to pre-construction notification.

The proposed site expansion required the development of stormwater detention ponds and restoration of disturbed uplands. BMEC provided a wetland restoration plan for the detention ponds and bioretention areas. The ecological restoration plans included guidelines for soil treatment, planting native vegetation, erosion control, noxious weed management, monitoring and maintenance of the seeded area.
