Wildfire Partners

  • Client: Boulder County, homeowners in Boulder County
  • Date: April, 2014 – present, ongoing
  • Project Type:  Wildfire mitigation, structure protection, defensible space
  • Info:  Working as consultants for Wildfire Partners, Blue Mountain Environmental Consulting provides home owners with resources to mitigate their property against the threat of wildfires.

Fort Collins Nissan Kia

  • Date: August, 2017 – present
  • Project Type: Ecological characterization study, wetland delineation, pre-construction notification, upland and wetland ecological restoration planning, noxious weed management, raptor monitoring
  • Info: Blue Mountain Environmental Consulting (BMEC) was contracted to provide an ecological characterization study, Army Corps of Engineers wetland delineation, pre-construction notification, wetland restoration plan, upland restoration plan and to address environmental planning requirements per the City of Fort Collins Land Use Code during the development process. 

Ruby Mountain Conservation Easement Plan

  • Client: Colorado Parks and Wildlife, S.S. Papadopulos & Associates, Inc.

  • Project Type: Conservation easement baseline documentation report, Colorado Parks and Wildlife Easement Management Plan
  • Info: Blue Mountain Environmental Consulting was contracted to develop a conservation easement baseline report for a public-access property along the Arkansas River where Nestlé Waters North America collects spring water for Arrowhead Springs Bottled Water. Blue Mountain Environmental also helped Blue Triton Brands (who purchased the property) develop a Colorado Parks and Wildlife Easement Management Plan.

Wyoming Ranch Wetland Delineation

  • Client: Private landowner
  • Date: November, 2021 – December, 2021
  • Project Type: Wetland Delineation and report development, noxious weed management, ecological restoration, wildlife management
  • Info: Blue Mountain Environmental Consulting was contracted to complete a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers wetland delineation and report for a 500-acre ranch with extensive wetlands, including a large fen.   Research and guidelines pertaining to fish habitat, beaver management, noxious weed management and ecological restoration were provided.   

Granite Meadows Conservation Easement

Balarat Outdoor Education Center

  • Client: Denver Public Schools
  • Date: July, 2021 – September, 2021
  • Project Type: Forest Agricultural Plan, wildfire mitigation structure assessments, defensible space layout and marking, environmental education
  • Info: Denver Public Schools contracted Blue Mountain Environmental Consulting to provide a Forest Agricultural Plan for Denver Public School’s 700-acre property. The goal was to improve forest health and vigor, preserve habitat, control noxious weeds and produce forest products.

Meadow Springs

  • Info: Blue Mountain was contracted by the City of Ft. Collins Utilities in the spring of 2021 to evaluate rangeland conditions at Meadow Springs Ranch and to provide guidance for subsequent comprehensive management planning.  Our process included GIS services, rangeland forage evaluations, a literature review, key informant interviews, data collection, team collaboration and production of a report.

Andrick Preserve Conservation Easement

  • Project Type: Conservation easement baseline report, Phase 1 Environmental Assessment
  • Info: Blue Mountain Environmental Consulting was contracted to provide a conservation easement baseline report to satisfy the requirements of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) with respect to charitable contributions and also conduct a Phase 1 Environmental Site Investigation per ASTM 2247-08.

Southwest Prospect and I-25 Interchange

  • Project Type: Ecological characterization study, ACOE wetland delineation, groundwater monitoring, Jurisdictional Determination request
  • Info: Blue Mountain Environmental Consulting (BMEC) was contracted to provide a City of Fort Collins Ecological Characterization Study, delineate a variety of complex wetlands and request a Jurisdictional Determination. The proposed commercial development and improved I-25 interchange required several types of environmental compliance per the City of Fort Collins Land Use Code.

Crystal Lakes Wildfire Mitigation

  • Date: Jul 2016 to Jul 2017
  • Project Type: Forest restoration, wildfire mitigation, public outreach
  • Info: Larimer County hired Blue Mountain Environmental Consulting to oversee hazardous fuels treatment on open space surrounding a 100-acre subdivision in the wildland-urban interface.

  • Info: The City of Manitou Springs retained Blue Mountain Environmental Consulting (BMEC) to assist in the development of the Black Canyon Road Land Stewardship Plan. The plan is a working document that establishes open space goals, existing conditions, and recommendations for short- and long-term management and monitoring.

Eleven Mile & Spinney State Park Noxious Weed Management Plan

  • Client: Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Park County, Colorado
  • Date: May to July, 2011
  • Project Type: Noxious weed inventory and management planning
  • Info: Eleven Mile State Park and Spinney Mountain State Park are located in South Park – an expansive high-altitude grassland region of central Colorado bordered to the east and west by the Pike National Forest. Managed by Colorado State Parks under a lease from the Denver Water Board, these parks provide visitors with opportunities for boating, camping, windsurfing, picnicking, birding, waterfowl hunting and nationally renowned fishing.

Bryce Valley Watershed Proper Functioning Condition Assessment

  • Client:  USDA National Resource Conservation Service, Utah
  • Date: August, 2009 to May, 2010
  • Project Type: Watershed assessment, Riparian Functional Conditional Assessment, Rosgen Channel Evaluation, EPA Streamflow Duration Assessment, Interagency Collaboration
  • Info: Blue Mountain was contracted by the Natural Resource Conservation Service to conduct a watershed assessment. The intent of the effort was to gather resource information about the physical structure and biological function of five rivers, to prioritize treatment areas and to develop management recommendations.

Poudre River Riparian Forest Assessment

NCAR Ecosystem Management Plan

  • Client: National Center for Atmospheric Research, Boulder, CO
  • Date: May, 2005 to September, 2005
  • Project Type: Ecosystem management planning, forest restoration, wildfire mitigation, rangeland and noxious weed inventory and management, wildfire management
  • Info: Blue Mountain and the Anchor Point Group were contracted to develop a comprehensive planning document for the 450-acre National Center for Atmospheric Research reserve in Boulder County, Colorado. This plan was created to meet long-range resource planning goals for open space, to ensure that management activities are ecologically sustainable and to integrate these goals with social directives. The plan addressed 1) Forest Management and Wildfire Mitigation, 2) Rangelands and Noxious Weeds, and 3) Wildlife.
