The various environmental projects we have undertaken over the years have provided us with an abundance of experience with federal agencies, state agencies, local municipalities, non-governmental organizations, foundations, landowners, and other crucial decision-makers. We have collaborated on National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) projects addressing power generation and transmission, water storage and conveyance and communications infrastructure. We have also conducted watershed assessments, ecological inventories, management planning and far more.

Blue Mountain Environmental Consulting in partnership with AloTerra Restoration Services prepared a biological evaluation for the City of Greeley to determine the likely effects of proposed erosion-control actions on federally listed species.

Parkside Village Environmentally Sensitive Areas Report

Blue Mountain Environmental Consulting documented ecological characteristics within the proposed Parkside Village community on 42.9 acres in Loveland, evaluating potential impacts of development and providing recommendations for protection, mitigation and enhancement.

Cummings Ranch Conservation Easement Baseline Report

Blue Mountain Environmental Consulting prepared the original conservation easement baseline report for the 6,575-acre property in 2011 and returned in 2015 to inventory a newly added parcel and to determine if there had been any changes to the original acreage.

Hardwick Farms Conservation Easement Baseline Report

Blue Mountain Environmental Consulting prepared the conservation easement baseline report for the 2,000-acre Hardwick Farms property in accordance with the requirements of the Internal Revenue Service with respect to charitable contributions.

West Prospect Atlas Tower Ecological Characterization Study

Blue Mountain Environmental Consulting prepared an Ecological Characterization Study (ECS) as required by the City of Fort Collins Community Development and Neighborhood Services department.

Chatfield State Park and Cherry Creek State Park Noxious Weed Management Plans

We prepared noxious weed management plans for Chatfield State Park (3,800 acres) and Cherry Creek State Park (3,300 acres) that included maps, methods for treatment and plans for weed management activities.

High Park Fire Mulch Inspections

Blue Mountain Environmental Consulting performed mulch inspections within the High Park Fire burn area. Working in collaboration with the City of Greeley, City of Fort Collins, Larimer County, and Alo terra Restoration Services, BMEC team members were flown in to remote burn sites to identify areas to be treated with mulch as well as inspect units already treated with mulch.

Crossons-Longview Environmental Assessment

Blue Mountain Environmental Consulting provided vegetation resource reports and extensive geographic information system analyses for an Environmental Assessment of a proposed forest restoration project on the South Platte Ranger District in the Pike & San Isabel National Forests.

Big Thompson Canyon Stream Assessment

Blue Mountain Environmental Consulting conducted rapid quantitative assessments of the Big Thompson River to assess damages and conditions subsequent to the 2013 flood, prioritizing reaches for restoration and providing a basis of information for grant applications for Wildlands Restoration Volunteers.

Stream Survey and Functional Condition Assessment

Blue Mountain Environmental was contracted by the Bureau of Land Management, Elko District, to monitor riparian conditions and fisheries habitat within various grazing allotments.

Eleven Mile & Spinney State Park Noxious Weed Management Plan

Eleven Mile State Park and Spinney Mountain State Park are located in South Park – an expansive high-altitude grassland region of central Colorado bordered to the east and west by the Pike National Forest. Managed by Colorado State Parks under a lease from the Denver Water Board, these parks provide visitors with opportunities for boating, camping, windsurfing, picnicking, birding, waterfowl hunting and nationally renowned fishing.

Ladder Livestock (CAP) Grazing Plan

Ladder Livestock is a large and complicated transhumance operation in north-central Colorado and south-central Wyoming that operates on over 140,000 deeded or leased acres. Blue Mountain worked in conjunction with the ranch operators and the local Natural Resource Conservation Service District Conservationist to develop a comprehensive grazing plan for the operation.

Centennial Valley State Wildlife Area Wetland Delineation

Blue Mountain Environmental was contracted by Ducks Unlimited to delineate 35 acres of atypical riverine wetlands along the South Platte River.

Gelvin Ranch Phase I Environmental Site Assessment

Gelvin Ranch is a 920-acre working ranch located in eastern Yuma County, Colorado. A Phase I Environmental Assessment was initiated because the landowner transferred developmental rights to The Nature Conservancy through a conservation easement.

Bryce Valley Watershed Proper Functioning Condition Assessment

Blue Mountain was contracted by the Natural Resource Conservation Service to conduct a watershed assessment. The intent of the effort was to gather resource information about the physical structure and biological function of five rivers, to prioritize treatment areas and to develop management recommendations.

Genesee Foundation Ecosystem Management Plan

Blue Mountain and Anchor Point Group were contracted to develop a comprehensive ecosystem management plan for the Genesee Foundation. This plan provided long-term planning for open space resources and provided background information about local natural resources.

Poudre River Riparian Forest Assessment

Blue Mountain was contracted by the City of Fort Collins Natural Areas Program to conduct a riparian forest inventory on approximately 15 miles of the Poudre River.

North Sterling State Park Stewardship Plan

Blue Mountain collaborated with Colorado State Parks to develop a new stewardship plan for North Sterling State Park. The new stewardship plan will guide park management for the next 10 to 15 years.

Winterhaven Conservation Easement Baseline Report

The Winterhaven property is an 820-acre working ranch located in northeast Colorado along the South Platte River. The property was purchased by Ducks Unlimited in 2009 to protect conservation values and restore waterfowl habitat.

Legacy Land Trust Conservation Values (GIS) Model

Blue Mountain was contracted by Legacy Land Trust to develop a Conservation Values Model. This conservation values model was developed in a Geographic Information System (GIS) database to identify places within Larimer, Jackson and Weld counties where conservation values are represented on the landscape.

Bald Mountain Communications Facility NEPA Assessment

Blue Mountain assisted Mangi Environmental Group in NEPA planning and oversight for the development of a communications tower on USFS land in Larimer County.

Saddle Pocket Ranch Conservation Easement Baseline Report

Saddle Pocket Ranch is a 1,003-acre cattle ranch located in Routt County, Colorado, just east of Slater on the Colorado-Wyoming border.

Kenosha Ponds Wetland Reclamation

Boulder County Parks and Open Space contracted Blue Mountain to assist with the implementation of a gravel mine reclamation plan at their 100-acre Kenosha Ponds property.

Castle Pines Ecosystem Management Plan

Blue Mountain and the Anchor Point Group were contracted to develop a comprehensive ecosystem management plan for the Castle Pines Homeowners Association.

Gypsum Creek Restoration & Enhancement

Walsh Environmental contracted Colorado Erosion Control and Blue Mountain to implement bio-technical stream stabilization practices on the Gypsum Creek in Eagle County, Colorado.

Residential Forest Agricultural Tax Plan

Blue Mountain Environmental Consulting was contracted by a private landowner to prepare a Forest Stewardship Plan to qualify for Forest Agricultural Classification.

NCAR Ecosystem Management Plan

Blue Mountain and the Anchor Point Group were contracted to develop a comprehensive planning document for the 450-acre National Center for Atmospheric Research reserve in Boulder County, Colorado. This plan was created to meet long-range resource planning goals for open space, to ensure that management activities are ecologically sustainable and to integrate these goals with social directives. The plan addressed 1) Forest Management and Wildfire Mitigation, 2) Rangelands and Noxious Weeds, and 3) Wildlife.

Poudre River Restoration

Blue Mountain aided Colorado Erosion Control in the implementation of biotechnical stream stabilization practices on the Poudre River in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Button Rock Watershed Ecosystem Plan

Blue Mountain implemented an ecosystem management planning process that included field inventories, database searches, literature reviews, and Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping.
